We just want to say to all the nominees that as filmmakers ourselves were absolutely Blown away by the films and the New Talent section but before announcing the winner we would like to give a special mention to a film and a filmmaker whose innovative approach left us excited for their career ahead though an ambitious combination of live action and animation the film successfully emulated a feeling that many of us can relate to we love to give a special mention to Ian Dani Kim

YOUKI International Youth Media Festival
Best Film Award | Austria (2023)

Jury Statement: A film that impressed and touched all of us in the jury at first sight. The technically adept combination of detail-loving stop motion animation and live action elements is striking, the storytelling empathetic, calm and clear. The young main character's own room becomes their Safer Space, the retreat where depression and social anxiety don't seem quite as impactful as they do outside of one's own four walls. The outside world is made visible in the film with clever tricks, without us as viewers leaving the room. At only 15 years of age, the director succeeds with his first film in authentically staging the inner life of a young person in all its strength and fragility alike. The winning film in the 13 - 17 years category is ROOM by Ian Dani Kim."
